Delifinger: Hold On Blue

Hold On Blue marks the return of Delifinger, the alter ego of singer songwriter Matthew Lacey (Grasscourt/OLO Worms) after a 10 year hiatus. The song was first penned during sessions for his last release all those years ago, but was mothballed, before being picked up again during a moment of pandemic boredom.

To make the video for Hold on Blue, Matthew came up with an idea that he could film, perform and edit himself, ensuring that it could be easily turned around in the short space of time needed. With a smartphone and a set made from scrap wood, filming and editing took place over a single weekend.

Hold On Blue is also available now as a postcard and digital download via Lost Map Records’ PostMap Club members and all streaming platforms (click here). A full length album is currently in the works due to be released later this year…

I Love You, You Big Dummy

I Love You, You Big Dummy' is a love story set in a record store.

Dave is in love with vinyl as much as he loves his wife, Christine. From behind the till of his shop, Spindle Wear, he tells us the story of how he met her; how she actually made records and got in the charts, and how he almost lost her to a drummer called Jeremy Clarkson. No, not that one.

Produced by The Cotswold Players for the One Hundred Lights project, I Love You, You Big Dummy was written and performed by Ben Wardle, whose biography of Talk Talk frontman Mark Hollis, A Perfect Silence, is out in spring 2022.

Directed by Melanie Palmer

Sound Records and Good On Paper presents the Shop Sessions....

Weekly vinyl sets featuring some of the best (and up and coming!) DJ's from across the Stroud District, Gloucestershire and further afield out of Sound Records - Stroud's independent record shop. The series continues with DJ Beat Boy B... "My name is Barney (DJ Beat Boy B.) and I’m 13 years old. I was born in Bristol, but I have lived in stroud for most of my life. My main influence for becoming a DJ is from my Dad (Mendoza) I listened to music for as long as I can remember, and I think that has given me a very good sense of rhythm. I love hip hop and mixing old and new styles. I got my first chance to DJ at Stroud Gloucester Vinyl Connections (SGVC) when I was 11 years old, and I took it and became their youngest member. In term of gigs, I did two at the Prince Albert for SGVC but then when Covid happened I switched to playing a SGVC gig on Twitch and then in early March I did thissession at Sound Records. My goals as a DJ are to make sets that people will enjoy and share the music I love and to also show that it doesn’t matter how old or young you are and that anyone can DJ if they try. Big thanks to Sound Records and Good on Paper for the opportunity."

Sound Records and Good On Paper presents the Shop Sessions....

Weekly vinyl sets featuring some of the best DJ's from across the Stroud District, Gloucestershire and further afield out of Sound Records - Stroud's independent record shop.

Tom's first love was Reggae, growing up going to the Carnival and digging through crates in Camden and Ladbroke Grove. Trying to find the hardest, bassiest, rarest records heard at Gaz's Rockin' Blues or the Dub club on Seven Sisters' Road the night before. Dancing in the near pitch dark at Jah Shaka Sound and reliving it round your mate's house with the Technics going.
Then came youtube and ebay and playing out at parties and music bars, the odd festival, weddings. Old loud party music, soul rnb pop reggae. Hours spent in record shops from Ramsgate to Memphis with an eye for a Dennis or a Justin or a Slim or Ken, what's that Tennor saw version on the sleng teng innit.
We find a more genteel and commodious selector waltzing into Sound records this quietest of quiet Sunday mornings, mid January and it's locked down.
Chalice has arabica in it these days, more medjool than mezcal, but he's still got a few musical discs to fling your way, and the music still awakens the same thrill and movement, natural power, ticket out of here....

Me Going For A Walk: Daniel Inzani and Narna Hue - Super 8 Film

Me Going For A Walk is the second audio-visual collaboration by composer, pianist and producer Daniel Inzani and visual artist and performer Narna Hue.

This music video is the latest from an exploratory audiovisual collaboration series between the artists, following on from their first collaborative release Genie. They started experimenting combining visuals and music during the beginning of the initial lockdown where they were living together in a country house full of creatives near Bristol.

Daniel performed and recorded the music at his home studio with his housemates during the early stages of what became ‘We All Live Together’, a music video collaborative project.

The super 8 footage was captured together, on one of Narna Hue’s regular walks; where she looks for ephemeral moments, curious objects and places to dance.

The film shows the construction of a timeless day in taking a walk and looking at things....

Narna Hue
Hue is a performing artist and filmmaker; her background in physical theatre has developed her interest in site-specific movement, analogue film and live projection displays. She has worked and performed with different artists such as Naomi Larh and Stevie Toddler.

Georgie Ward: Live at St. George’s

Pianist and composer, Georgie Ward (Will Gregory Moog Ensemble/Paraorchestra and Friends), performs a live set for solo piano and synthesizers. The performance opens with two pieces from Georgie’s solo piano album ‘EP.1’ before moving on to new material for synthesizers and piano.

The film was shot by local filmmaker Tom Jacob in August 2020 at St. George’s Bristol, at a time when no live concerts were taking place. “I met Georgie when we were both studying Music at the University of Bristol. It’s been so exciting to see her flourish as a composer and become such a synth boss! So I was excited when I got the chance to shoot a set of hers. St. George’s is an amazing space both in sound and sight and I think we managed to capture a beautiful performance.” Special thanks to the team at St. George’s for the use of the concert hall and Steinway Model D.

Jon the Bus

A short documentary by Charlie Graley…

"I have known Jon for many years. He creates for the love of it with no obvious goal. He sees the world very differently to everyone else. He tends to favour magic over fact. He has a unique spin on everything. Even the most mundane conversations can quickly slip into time travel or how his dog Teddy, has a magical aura. Aside from all of his wonderful creations, the most overwhelming characteristic about him is his heart of gold. He is a polite, timid soul that would never say a bad word against anyone. He is a shy character so after he agreed to make the film we were unsure how he was going to react. But he opened up a lot more than what we expected. We recorded endless conversations. He offered up photos from his past and was happy to reshoot the final shot on three separate occasions until we got it right. We ended up with so much material covering a lot of different subjects. The challenge became how this was going to all come together. We decided to boil everything down and link the story through the themes of time and nature. The original ending was going to be Jon reciting Desiderata, his favourite poem. I’m pleased we didn’t need this in the end, we achieved the same goal by letting Jon be himself. I intended it to be a fable about looking at the world in a positive way. We are in a particularly turbulent wiggle in time and it’s refreshing to hear Jon’s point of view. It’s hopeful, and it’s about looking beyond the troubles to see the bigger picture and the beauty of the world. " - Charlie Graley
