The Record Shop Sessions: Flora Curzon

Hidden Notes and Sound Records Presents: The Record Shop Sessions...

A new series featuring contemporary classical/avant garde artists performing out of Sound Records - a renowned independent record store situated on the high street of Stroud, Gloucestershire, UK - amidst a plethora of records, neon signs, music magazines and a till - premiered via the Hidden Notes YouTube channel...

The series continues with Flora Curzon - an award-winning violin player with a particular love for playing early music, contemporary and improvised music, Klezmer, and traditional music from across the British Isles. This performance marks the beginning of a new solo project which aims to weave together music from all the corners of Flora's life, combined with live electronics, and a soundscape, this time collected from local markets, the River Frome, Toadsmoor woods, and Stroud railway. It is performed on a baroque violin with gut strings, and a baroque bow. Flora performs regularly with her experimental folk duo, Fran & Flora, who released their critically acclaimed debut album Unfurl in February 2019. She also works with ensembles including English Touring Opera, MishMash Productions and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and has collaborated with many artists including Sam Lee, Talvin Singh, Daniel Inzani, Tcha Limberger and Jocelyn Pook.
