The live music programme at SVA’s Good Shed has been really packed recently with the likes of jazz musician, composer, producer and founder of the independent label Gondwana Records Matthew Halsall, legendary Ethiopian keyboardist Hailu Mergia, the American jazz quartet the Bad Plus, alternative rock band Flamingods (to name just a few!) all having performed at Stroud’s iconic multi arts venue in the last few months of 2023. And last night it continued with the Afro-futurist band Onipa returning to the venue after their mind blowing performance at the Jazz Stroud festival in 2022.
The task of warming up the crowd for the band was deftly handled by the Joi DJ Collective - a new SVA led project which provides DJ skills, training and peer to peer support for women and transgender people in Stroud and Gloucester.
